We have said this many times before, but we will say it again – Do not buy a cheap hot tub that is not covered under warranty! And we are not talking about tubs which are covered under the normal 1 year warranty, we are talking about making sure your supplier is also willing to come out to you on site and repair any problems. They must offer a parts and labour warranty.
We support other internet based companies, after all, we started out on the internet. But the truth is there are loads of companies springing up trying to make a buck or two. Give them a year or so and their websites will no longer be active and their telephone numbers will be dead. When this happens, who is going to fix your spa? Who is going to provide the parts? When buying a spa, make sure your supplier offers at least the following:
Check that your supplier is actually willing to visit you in the event of a fault. Believe it or not, some companies require you to diagnose any faults yourself without any guidance! Ridiculous!
Your hot tub supplier should at least cover the cost of both parts AND LABOUR. If a leak develops in your hot tub, it can take hours to find it! We have had repair jobs in the past where we have spent over 6 hours searching for leaks. If labour charges are not covered, you could be left with a hefty bill to repair your spa – and bare in mind hot tub engineers usually charge about £45 an hour!
Your supplier should cover the shell of the hot tub for at least 5 years. We think the spas main parts (heater, pumps etc) should all be covered for a minimum of 2years.
Don't be one of those left stranded with a dodgy hot tub!
